Met him at Walter Gretzky ball hockey tournament. I had a mini Canada Jersry and his team Canada card to sign for my son who was just born. I told him he was awesome and an honour to meet him. He was like really? He seemed out of it or didn't think people cared about him iduno. Walter then told me to talk with some Fox guy that played in LA not sure said he was a great player in the 80s 90s.

With palmateer in goal, they were lucky not to lose by 10. Most overrated goalie in nhl history.

It is criminal that this was the only Canada Cup Tournament that didn't finish with a Best of 2 of 3 Format to determine the Winner. I'm not stating that Canada would have won it but it would have been much more interesting to see Both Teams tied 1-1 in a Best of 2 of 3 Format go to a 3rd and deciding Game instead of a One Game only Format. The Canada Cup was not meant to be run like the Winter Olympics Format.

Aired on WITN-7, WCNC-36 and WXII-12 in NC. Raleigh/Durham’s then-NBC affiliate WRDC-28 didn’t air this game in lieu of the Florida State/Duke ACC Basketball game on Raycom/JP Sports Sydnication (Since WRAL-5, then-CBS affiliate aired UNC/LSU at the Superdome). Maybe WYED-17 (The then-indie based in nearby Goldsboro, which ironically became WNCN-17 over a year later as an NBC affiliate until 2016, while WRDC-28 was later a UPN affiliate until 2006, which is now MyNetwork TV) in the area picked this game up…IDK

Being from Windsor, Adam Graves was my childhood hero-leading the Spitfires to the Mem cup finals back in the day. Also half my family is in Belle River. It’s only about 40 min outside Windsor. All that and the fact that Bob Probert and Ed Jovananivsky are also from here to name a few--this place was not devoid of some great hockey roll models-especially Tie Domi. I’m only 5,10” 185. He showed me that these things are not the final say when it comes to sticking up for your guys-on and off the ice, and that’s its important that you do it. It speaks to loyalty, unity, and it builds relationships. lol. And they call Windsor a Detroit suburb lol

I’m Canadian - I played major junior hockey before deciding on baseball as my primary sport - played D1 in the US. I was a defensive defenseman 6’4 225. I was a huge Larry Robinson fan as a kid, but as I began to see more international hockey, by far my favorite player was Kasatonov. I tried to copy his style of play. To me, if I were to choose an all-time team, my 6 Dmen would be: Robinson, Savard, Bourque, Orr, Fetisov, Kasatonov

As a Ranger fan, I really wish that 1994 was John Vanbiesbrouck’s Stanley Cup, instead of Mike Richter’s. Then, we would’ve shut out Russia in those 2002 Semifinals and we would’ve beaten Canada, 3-2 with a Brett Hull overtime goal in the Gold Medal Final because unlike Richter, Beezer would’ve preserved that 2-2 tie, by making those big stops that were needed. The problem with Richter’s performance in that game is that he gave up 2 soft unanswered goals in that Semifinal game against Russia, after taking a 3-0 lead and also gave up 2 soft unanswered goals in that Gold Medal Final, after Brian Rafalski had scored the tying goal for us. These were 4 goals that he could’ve stopped in these 2 games, combined (2 in the Semifinals and 2 in the Gold Medal Final against Canada).
